NIOSH Design Plans
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Division of Safety Research and Protective Technology Branch, part of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has developed cost-effective rollover protective structures (CROPS) as an alternative to installing commercially available ROPS. CROPS have been designed for four tractor models: (1) Ford 8N, (2) Ford 3000, (3) Ford 4000, and (4) Massey Ferguson 135. These CROPS also fit certain other models as described on the NIOSH CROPS website (link below.) The NIOSH CROPS for each of the four tractor models listed was successfully tested in accordance with Society of Automobile Engineers (SAE) industry standard performance test SAE J2194. NIOSH makes available detailed technical drawings and other important technical information on its website, as well as installation videos and seatbelt information where appropriate. According to the website, these drawings and information can be used either by an individual to build a CROPS for their own tractor or by a company to build and sell a CROPS. Go to their website at http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/aginjury/crops/.

Go to the NIOSH website and look under Ford 8N Crossover Models. You must follow plans exactly. Address any questions to NIOSH.
